Multi Factor Authentication

Ensuring that your login remains secure is always high priority and Multi Factor Authentication ensures this is the case.

By default all new and existing Users will authenticate via a One Time Pin or OTP that is sent to your cellphone. You will however also have the option to enable authentication via a cellphone app.

The following authenticator app's have been tested with the solution, and either one can be downloaded via your AppStore (for iPhone users) or Google Pay (for Android users).

  • Google Authenticator
  • Duo Mobile
  • 2FAS
  • Authy
  • LastPass Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator

IMPORTANT NOTE - When enabling the authentication feature via a cellphone Authentication App, please ensure that your phone and computer times are synchronised to ensure a smooth workflow.

Changing your Multi Factor Authentication method

  • Navigate to your User profile and select "Change Two-Factor Settings"

  • If you are accessing this feature for the first time, you will be required to complete your password in order to proceed.
  • On completion of your password, your will have the option to select the authentication method you wish to utilised going forward.

  • To enable authentication via the cellphone app, select "Switch to Authenticator App".
  • A unique QR code will be generated and displayed on screen.

  • Using the authenticator app, scan the QR code and enter the OTP generated by the authenticator app into the Confirmation Code field.
  • Upon verification your Two Factor Authentication method will be updated to use the authenticator app for all future logins.

Recovery Process - Cellphone lost OR amending your Two Factor Authentication back to SMS OTP

If for some reason you cannot access your Authenticator App, you can revert back to SMS from the Login screen.

  • Log into WeconnectU
  • Click on the "Lost your Two Factor Authentication device?"
  • You will now have the option to revert back to utilising an SMS OTP when logging in
  • Once you have reverted back to SMS, you will now be required to enter your SMS OTP when logging in

Recovery Process - Account deleted from Authenticator App

In the event that you have deleted WeconnectU from your Authenticator App and need to rescan your QR code, you can reveal the QR code and rescan it to login.

  • Navigate to your User profile and select "Change Two Factor Authentication"
  • If required, please complete your Password
  • Click on the option to "Reveal your QR code"
  • Scan the QR code and enter the OTP displayed on the Authenticator App

This new feature makes your login less vulnerable to cyber attacks, and will also ensure that no matter where you are, even if you have no cellphone signal, you are still able to easily authenticate your login.
